tank capable of taking anywhere Successful test of anti-missile
New Delhi. The Indian Army successfully tested the indigenously developed 'Man-Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile' (MPATGM) weapon system capable of being easily carried anywhere and targeting enemy tanks from anywhere, thereby inducting it into the army's arsenal. The path to do so has been paved. Officials said that this weapon system has been developed by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO).
The system consists of MPATGM, launcher, target acquisition equipment and a fire control unit. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh praised DRDO and the Indian Army for the successful testing of this system, calling it an important step towards achieving self-reliance in the development of modern technology based defense system.
The Defense Ministry said on Sunday that the MPATG weapon system has been evaluated several times in various flight configurations with the aim of proving the technology with high superiority.
He said, 'This weapon system was successfully tested at Pokhran Field Firing Range on April 13. The performance of the missile has been found to be remarkable.' This weapon system is absolutely suitable for operations both day and night.
DRDO Chairman Sameer V. Kamat congratulated the teams associated with this test.
